Brian York, DO

Hello! My name is Brian York, and I am excited to be returning to my hometown, Fort Wayne, to continue my medical training. I graduated from Northrop High School where I also met my best friend and amazing wife, Makelle, who is equally as excited to be returning to For Wayne! I then attended IPFW and graduated with a BS in Biology with a minor in Psychology. Before applying to medical school, I worked as a patient care tech at Dupont Hospital where I was fortunate enough to meet and work with so many incredible people. I attended medical school at Marian University – College of Osteopathic Medicine in Indianapolis where I discovered my passion for family medicine.

As I began interviewing for residency, I found myself comparing the other programs to FWMEP. It being an unopposed program, with robust adult and pediatric in-patient experience as well as other sub-specialties, ample experience in both non-surgical and surgical obstetrics, and a robust out-patient family medicine clinic based downtown where we can care for a wide range of patients with various medical needs all appealed to me. But what made FWMEP standout the most was how the people there made us feel like we were home. Some of my specific interests within the wide reach of Family Medicine are sports medicine and women’s health including obstetrics and pre-natal care.

My wife and I recently welcomed a new addition to our family! Our daughter was born in March of 2022, and we could not be more excited to see her grow up near family and friends. In our free time, we like to go on walks, hangout with family and friends, check out local breweries and wineries, and spend as much time as we can at Higgins Lake during the summer. I am an avid University of Michigan (GO BLUE!) and Detroit sports fan. I also enjoy a round of golf here and there, although I am not near as good as I once was. We are so excited to join the FWMEP team!
