Keith J. Derickson, MD, Assistant Director

I am a born-and-raised Fort Wayne native. For my undergraduate studies, I attended Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. I then attended the Indiana University School of Medicine for the first two years locally on the IPFW campus, transitioning to Indianapolis where I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree. I subsequently returned to Fort Wayne, completing my Family Medicine residency at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program (FWMEP). I am a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, as well as a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Indiana State Medical Association, and the Fort Wayne Medical Society.

Since earning my MD I have served in multiple leadership roles. I was Co-Chief Resident at FWMEP during my senior year. In my training and through my current practice, I have served on various hospital committees at multiple hospitals in the county. I enjoy serving as a mentor and preceptor to medical and nurse practitioner students at all stages of their training.

I enjoy practicing broad-spectrum family medicine: providing care to newborns, children, and adults of all ages and condition of health. I maintain inpatient privileges at multiple local hospitals, which allows me to provide continuity of care by following my patients even in the event of hospitalization.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two daughters, and dog. We ride our bicycles along the Rivergreenway Trail to Downtown Fort Wayne events such as Germanfest and the Fort Wayne Greek Festival; we attend the annual Night of Lights to mark the beginning of the holiday season; and we travel regionally to zoos, children's museums, and state parks such as Pokagon for yearly tobogganing.
