Jordan T. Mathews, MD

Hello, my name is Jordan Thomas Mathews. I grew up in San Jose, California, before moving to the southern state of Kerala, India, in middle school. After completing high school I enrolled in the premed program at International American University, St Lucia. I then attended Trinity School of Medicine in St Vincent and Grenadines and completed my MD. During my time in Kerala, India I enjoyed being a part of the community, participating in communal events and getting to know everyone around me. I feel that my career in medicine needs to reflect that chapter of my life.

During medical school I fell in love with the field of family medicine. I loved how much the family doctors I worked with were able to be so connected to their community and make such an immense impact on their patients’ lives, while maintaining a relationship with them for years and years. Being a family medicine doctor involves being able to work with people who you would have a life long relationship with. I knew fairly early on that this was the field for me, and am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to train under the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program. Through the interview process I noticed how the residents and faculty at FWMEP communicated like a family. I was impressed and amazed by the facilities and the overall positive environment of the program. I believe the program, along with its residents and faculty, will help me build on my skills, and allow me to become a well-rounded physician and human being.

If medical school taught me anything it’s that hobbies are critical to a maintaining a balanced life. So, in my spare time I enjoy learning new recipes, trying food from different parts of the world, going to the gym, playing video games and watching anime.
