David T. Furman, Jr., DO, Senior Associate Program Director
Hello! My name is David Furman, and I’m excited to continue my journey with the FWMEP team! As a graduate of the FWMEP, I have been continuously impressed with the friendly, supportive, environment and know that this program continues to improve my skills as a well-rounded family physician.
I grew up in Fort Wayne, graduating from Snider High School. I attended DePauw University for my undergraduate work and Ball State for a masters degree in physiology. I attended the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine – Carolinas Campus for medical school and find my osteopathic education and OMT skills are utilized on a daily basis.
Previous to medical school, I worked as an EMT, college administrator, and pharmacy tech. I have previous experience teaching, having taught as an adjunct professor of anatomy and physiology at Ball State and Ivy Tech.
I enjoy research, pursuing grants and publications, and continue to be involved with work that furthers medical education and patient outcomes. I enjoy outreach and have completed medical mission trips to Honduras and El Salvador.
Outside of medicine, I love spending time with my wife and son. We enjoy traveling, eating great food, attending local festivals and watching the Colts win!
