Medical Student Education

We are glad that you are considering the city of Fort Wayne and surrounding region for a portion of your medical student education. We offer a wide array of electives for both 3rd and 4th year students. Students who choose Fort Wayne will have the opportunity to work one on one with their assigned preceptors to obtain the most in-depth learning atmosphere possible.

We have a multi-hospital system, which consists of the three hospital systems below.  For more information regarding these hospitals please refer to the direct links.

Lutheran Hospital of Indiana 
>St. Joseph Hospital

Preference is given to applicants who meet the following criteria:

>Currently in good standing with an accredited/approved medical school
>Passed all USMLE / COMLEX exams taken thus far on the first attempt         
>Must meet basic criteria for being granted an interview should you apply for residency here at FWMEP

Application Process

Who:
We welcome applicants from:

Accredited U.S. Allopathic and Osteopathic Medical Schools
arrowInternational Medical Schools approved by the Medical Licensing Board of Indiana
arrowMust be Permanent U.S. Citizen (Our program does not sponsor visas)

When:
arrowApplications must be submitted at least 90 days prior to the start of the requested rotation.
arrowThose selected for a rotation will be notified by email.
arrowThe Family Medicine Sub-Internship is only available to current seniors who are applying to FWMEP's residency program. This rotation is available from August through December. All applications for this rotation must be received by June 1st.

Fill out the Rotation Request Form completely
arrowProvide explanation of any interruptions or gaps in your medical education
arrowSend a copy of USMLE or COMLEX certified transcript of scores
